FAQ
What is a Community School
A community school focuses on helping students succeed by building strong connections with the local community. It provides educational, social, and health services for students and their families. These schools partner with local organizations to offer resources like after-school programs, mental health support, and family events. The goal is to create a supportive environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
What are the roles of each Community School Team member?
- Community Schools Coordinator: Manages the team and connects the school, families, and community resources. Oversees programs like health services, after-school care, and academic support, ensuring smooth communication and tracking the success of these initiatives.
- Community Schools Facilitator (CSF): Supports the school by connecting families with community resources. They coordinate workshops, family engagement events, and help address student needs through local partnerships. The CSF works with the school team to improve family involvement and track the effectiveness of programs.
- Parent Community Liaison (PCL): Works at the Community Resource Center, helping families access services and educational workshops. They provide language translation support and collaborate with community partners to offer resources. The PCL supports all schools in the area, ensuring families stay informed and connected.
- Community Schools Office Assistant: Provides administrative support to the team, helping with scheduling, communication, and event coordination. They ensure smooth operations and contribute to creating a welcoming environment at the Community Resource Center.
