Overview
Thank you for your interest in the La Mesa-Spring Valley Schools Preschool Program. Attending preschool prior to kindergarten gives students a tremendous advantage. We offer a balanced preschool program that supports all children to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn, grow, and explore with the expectations of:
- We are respectful
- We are kind and friendly
- We are safe and healthy
We focus on developing early language and literacy skills, cognitive, self-help, social, emotional, and physical growth. Teachers provide a variety of activities to effectively guide learning that are both fun and hands-on as well as provide experiences that develop the knowledge and skills our youngest learners need before entering kindergarten. Active, playful exploration, and experimentation is encouraged and intentional opportunities are planned throughout the preschool day.
The curriculum is balanced between teacher and child initiated learning activities which accommodate a wide range of abilities and learning styles. Curriculum in our preschool is based on California Preschool Curriculum Framework and teaches the Preschool Learning Foundations. We work with families to ensure a positive educational experience for both you and your child.
Programs are licensed through the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing and adhere to all quality standards required by the California Department of Education, Early Education and Support Division.
Students must be able to toilet independently to enroll in LMSV Preschool.
