Welcome La Mesa Dale Library Lions!
Where we have a ROARING good time reading BOOKS!
Meet the Library Media Tech
Introduction: I grew up in a library – really! While I was in middle school, my mother went to school to get her master’s degree in library science. I would go with her when she worked at various libraries. Libraries have always been a part of my life. I come from a family of readers. My mother bought books for me at school, but complained that I had completely read them before we finished the drive — so we started going to the library even more. Even today I usually have at least 10 books checked out at a time.
Education: I have a bachelor’s degree in Theater from Wells College in Aurora, NY. I also spent a year as a visiting student at Cornell University. After college, I spent a year working in theater in New York City. After that, I started working as a newspaper reporter and I’ve been doing that for 30 years. I still freelance for newspapers.
Hobbies: I love writing for kids. I have been published in several national magazines and have an agent shopping my books. I teach “Writing for Children” at University of San Diego. I am also the assistant regional advisor for the San Diego chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. I also love spending time with my husband (a set designer and playwright) and my three kids.
